Tannoy Monitor Gold 15 inch cabinets

Hello Denzil,

Welcome to the forum!
Those cabinets look fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

Is it Solid wood or Veneer? By the way it already looks beautiful in Raw condition. What have you planned for final looks.

One more question. From where did you sourced the grill cloth. I am also building my speakers and need the same for them. This cloth will add a vintage look for sure.

Thanks Sadik.

Three layers. Middle is Birch Ply 24 mm. Outer is teak wood 1 inch. Inside is a 1/4 inch sound damping recycled plastic particle board equivalent of MDF. And Rockwool inside.

Got the cloth from Mojotone USA. https://www.mojotone.com/Cabinets_x/Grillcloth_x#/

Beautiful. Good luck with the project Denzil.

Thanks !

Fabulous cabinets... they appear like solid wood.

Thanks.
Three layers, as described in the thread above.

The sweet heart he heard at the showroom isn't the sweet heart singing to him now..

:))

New house you see..

:))
Not day night difference though but may be 20%. Rest I will get to know in the days to come. I was too exhausted to evaluate anything last night.

Everything in place now.

Beautiful work. Can you fill in the details? Driver /crossover and stuff.
Again, Nice one.

Beautiful build. Thanks for sharing . Would you please share some details on the dimensions ( Height, Depth, Width and Port Diameter).
Anyways it gives me ideas on cabinet and finish for my Monitor Gold 12" build planned

16.25D x 18.75W x 53.25 H. (inches). Three ports. 4 inches diameter, 10.5 inches long. Tuned to 29 Hz. I'm actually using Aperiodic venting as used in the old Lockwood cabnets. With a shelf with felt lining below the driver, restricting flow to the ports which are in a chamber below. Usually Aperiodic vents are not tuned and have a shallow depth. However I'm tuning my ports to 29 Hz. I will test in my room and depending on how it sounds will stuff some or all the ports with sponge further enhancing the Aperiodic effect. That's only if the sound is too boomy. I may even seal the ports completely depending on how they sound.

Prima Luna valve amplifier. Rega Planar 3 turntable. Cambridge Audio DAC. Emotiva Reference CD player. Majority for Spotify and Internet radio streaming. I mainly listen to western classical and Jazz. Some retro rock.
