Hello all,

I have been using Spotify Premium since a while now & wanting to try Tidal as heard the sound quality is un matched.

Can anyone here guide me how to get this service in India? Do i need a vpn & foreign credit card to get the service?

Thanks.

I have two Tidal accounts. One created with UK and one with Turkey. UK cost almost Rs.2000/-pm ( 19.99£) and Turkey cost Rs.250/- pm (19.99 TRY). Now I have closed UK account and using Turkey only which is super cheap for the availability and quality of music. You require VPN just to create an account and later on you can access it from any place. Best way is to install Hola vpn on mobile phones and select Turkey country and create account. You need to have international credit/Debit card to pay the subscription charges. Initially for one month it is free and later on it's chargeable.

hmmm, so the Turkey subscription for 250/- pm is the Hi-fi one which has master quality? or its the normal premium service?

Thanks.

The most cost effective way to go about it is to go for the family HIFI version you want to use ( UK/US/Turkey) , the Turkey version has quiet a bit of old bollywood songs missing as compared to the US version but the cost is much cheaper. After that you can invite people who want to share with you and split the cost. I am currently using Turkey version along with 4 other fellow members , we pay roughly 75 rupees a month.

19.99 TRY for HiFi with Master . UK version have more numbers of Bollywood songs than Turkey but you can always use Spotify for that. If you use Tidal Desktop app to access Tidal then you will get Master quality aunthincate (MQA) version of albums which are certainly sounds better than HiFi FLAC version. Desktop Tidal app itself decode MQA and send data to Integreated amplifier/AV receiver. I have connected my Laptop to Marantz avr through HDMI Port. Your amplifier/av receiver/Laptop must have HDMI or USB Audio port to connect Laptop to IA/AVR.

Did you get it after i started this thread, for sure this thread will help all of us :)
Are all the latest English music available on Tidal Turkey?

Thanks.
I created my account today using Turkey VPN. Still need to browse the collection. That can be done without adding payment method.

Ok just signed up for US Account of tidal, will try it for a month & then might try the Turkey one, prefer the US account as it accepts PayPal.
Does the Turkey Account also work with PayPal for subscription?

Thanks.

I am using Turkey Tidal account for the past 3-4 months. Have not checked about Bollywood collection, but they do have some great collection of Jazz , Blues and other genres as well.

Thnx. I also subscribed today using info from this thread. Was able to login into cxn v2 using old app. Stream magic app login do not complete for me.

I tried Tidal (US) account for couple of months but cancelled it mainly because of limited MQA albums. Also heard that amazon has already launched HD version of prime music in US.. so hoping of a release in India in near future. I guess prime music HD would be a better integration in a stereo system and hell lot cheaper than Tidal.

Tons of Bollywood on TIDAL. You just need to search for it.
Here are some albums from new to golden oldies.

For high quality Bollywood I don't think there is a better source online.

Yes it does have lots of Indian music collections but as Nikhil pointed out you need to search with proper keywords. And its search engine is pathetic and they need to learn from Spotify or even Gaana or Saavn.

Tidal and Indian Music

On Tidal US for a year or more. It’s totally worth the Rs 1500 pm or so. (I justified the additional expense by letting go of Netflix which while being tempting, has far cheaper but equivalent, and some qualitatively better options). Apart from exploring a lot of western and international music, Tidal also allows me to deep dive into Indian genres - Classical, Old films, Ghazals, Fusion, Regional, Devotional... and others. One could probably do it as much on Apple Music or Spotify, but not at the resolution and therefore richness of Tidal sound - more so when played natively through CXN. I don’t find Tidal (US)’s Indian collection materially lacking with respect to any other streaming platform. I hardly listen to any of the others now.

Any cheaper Tidal subscription which doesn’t have the entire Indian collection of Tidal would not woo me away from Tidal US. But I am, like all, waiting for Tidal to launch in India. (I feel they aren’t in touch with the Indian market and not realising its potential and/or readiness). They already have huge Indian content - any additional investment they need to do for launching in India would be primarily limited to promotions. Given their international pricing pattern, my estimate is they could charge around Rs 400 pm or so.
