This thread is for us fiddlers and faddlers.
One gentleman on the forum said the oil caps used for fans are great for diy and give good results. Thats something I intend to try out.
There must be so many different things that we have all tried which went against the grain or the text book but had good results with it. Any threads that you have read and would like to link here is also welcome.
There is one caveat though…..pls post stuff that you have tried yourself.
Let this thread be a repository of out of the ordinary stuff. Please dont limit yourselves to only capacitors etc.
E.g for me and my isolation needs I settled for isolating my electronics with a sandwich of mdf, cork and granite stone. I use a 1.5sq ft slab under my amp, transport and dac. It seems to work reasonably well for me well under my tube amp(it has helped reduce microphony) though granite I am repeatedly told is a no no.
