I am not sure if it’s appropriate to start such a thread on this forum. If it’s not, Mods please delete it.

I was wondering if there are any FMs who have extensively driven AMT from MS.

Thanks.

Note: This thread was initially titled "Anybody owns an AMT from Maruti Suzuki ?"

Yes I did until last month. I sold it because I was not happy with the auto box. There are jerks and wheelspins. I decided to sell and buy a proper cvt.

Thanks all. I was least impressed with Dzire ZXI AMT test drive. My current VDI drives way better.

Are my other better options Baleno CVT and Toyota Yaaris CVT ?

Neither. I would personally stay away from Maruti, till they get a newer engine and better build quality. Their metal sheet seems to be getting thinner and thinner. Yaris is amazing however its overpriced in my opinion.

Have you tried out the Ameo DSG?

I own baleno CVT.
Its good .. But yeah one shouldn't expect a amt car to give power delivery like a manual in this price segment.
Mileage 12kmpl ( when my dad drives it) 10-11 kmpl when I drive it.
Manual like power delivery with sports mode on will give 7-8 kmpl.

Really good for City driving.( Read Traffic)
I feel sleepy when I drive it on highways. Coz change of gears isn't required.
All this is about the petrol variant.

Overall its a very good car in this price segment.
Rear seating is very spacious.

Good luck.

Mine is a joint family of 24 members.
We have zen, a star, etios, polo, xcent, eon, Verna(2007), baleno(CVT).
Baleno is the best amongst these.
Then comes polo, then Verna .
Xcent is like a toy . Worst car.
I have driven all of these.

Volkswagen sales have declined .
Servicing is expensive.
Resale value is very less..

Buy Volkswagen only if its single handed driven and that person should not be a driver.

Otherwise quality of Volkswagen is superb. Safety will obviously be better than baleno.( If you drive a lot on highways then consider Volkswagen)
That's why overall I would buy baleno.

Have done all the home work before getting baleno last year for my dad.

Good luck.

Wow ! That’s great !!! No wonder you were eyeing the 18” sub for Grand Family !!!

Just joking. Thanks for your input but I read Baleno has a nagging break noise. Has that been your experience too ?

+1 for the TSI + DSG
Have 2 in my stable
Vento and polo (both petrol)
Expensive, but fun to drive
Cheers,
Raghu
I guess both breach the 10L mark. Do they ?
Thanks.

Will do. Thanks.

VW seems to be a better choice but never owned any from VW. Traffic in my city is getting crazy and I am really tired of gear shifts.

Agree traffic is getting crazy everywhere. Yes VW, Skoda, Ford, Hyundai and Tata are really coming up with some great cars. Tata especially have taken a Huge leap with their quality and engineering.
