Hi all,

I would like to get your expert advise on inbuilt DAC of Onkyo receiver VS Pioneer BDP-170; below my setup:

Pioneer BDP-170; connected to my ONKYO HT-R390 receiver by HDMI cable; with Pioneer Andrew Jones FS-52 floor standers. I'm using this same setup for my stereo music (Audio CD/ FLAC from BDP to ONKYO to Pioneer FS-52).

I am thinking that if I use the BDP-170 stereo out to my ONKYO stereo, it may improve sound quality for music as BDP's DAC should work better than my ONKYO  ?

I need your advise on this, please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Noble

i can't say which is better, but suggest you to try the same (BDP Analog Out=> ONKYO analog IN) and see the difference. And make sure while doing this, you must choose Direct / Straight / Pure mode in the Onkyo receiver so that the Onkyo wont again process that analog signal to digital and once again to analog, which will affect audio quality a lot.
