Which packers and movers?

Hey Folks

As some of you might know, I am shifting house locally this weekend.

Which packers and movers do you recommend who will transport my stuff including Hifi gear safely? What are the standard agreements for damage in transit? Insurance costs? How much should it cost for a 10km move?

They are the big guys in this field.Said to be quite relaiable,but the smaller guys are far cheaper.I got a quote from them recently for a full 19 foot truck, for shipping stuff from Chandigarh to Goa.They quoted 48K + packing,loading,unloading and insurance extra!A lesser known company quoted 35 K(negotiable)inclusive of shipping/packing/loading/unloading in a similar truck.

Lot of bad reviews for Agarwal on mouthshut. Thanks but not inclined to this vendor.

I think I will only need a Tempo not a whole truck.

Any other recommendation?

A rough estimate for a 10km shift would be 5 k for general company and unto 10k for specialised/ISOetc co.


Insurance would be a novel concept for lower cos.

PS did u notice the indian option has a load of onions ... he will get robbed en route completely. so better take insurance.

Hmm my HiFi gear looks like those onions in these times ... rare and too expensive to afford

I had used Santosh Movers and didn't face any issues. One of my co-worker suggested them. They were very economical but don't remember the exact amount (it was a year back). I will PM the contact details.
