Hi , Recently bought a used good condition A S 1000 .The unit was mishandled during shipping. The volume knob was lying down in the box.fixing the knob showed varying clearance and not so smooth rotation of knob.the shaft is bend.Turned the unit on and found no low volume and only very high volumes. The amp works well as a power amp.could someone please guide me . what is the best solution.should I open the cover and have a look??what could be the issue?will this be an easy fix?

Do you have a Yamaha service center in Australia ?

That will be the best option

Thanking you for you input mpw.

UPDATE:
Managed to replace the Pot.Luckily only the pot was damaged.
It was a one to one replacement with a genuine spare part I ordered from Yamaha Australia.Cost me under $ 25 AUD including shipping.
Funny thing is I think Yamaha uses the same part(motorized pot) even in their flag ship AS 3000.

Noting down the Part details below if it helps someone.
Part Number: WK707400
Description: POTENTIOMETER WITH MOTOR B10K AS2000

  • The same part can be used for below models.
    • A S1000, A S2000, A S300, A S500
I was wrong in my previous post with the statement on AS 3000.
