Hi everyone,

I recently bought a YHT-196 home theatre system for my home. I discovered yesterday that ONE of the 4 satellite speakers (NS-B20) is not working and there is no sound coming out of it.

I have confirmed that the cable works and the port works (other speakers, cables).

Is there a way I can open it to see if there's a loose wire or something?

I am unable to find any screws on its body to be able to open it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I don't think you can open it without damaging the soft cloth grill.

There are no screws behind, the driver is mounted from the front I believe.

Thanks & Regards,
Rajiv

Is there a way I can reliably get it repaired ? Or if its easier to get a new piece at a good cost, where can I buy an NS-B20 in Bangalore?

I'm not sure you can get it repaired, if you are looking to get it replaced, I'd suggest you buy a better pair of better satellite speakers. The existing ones (2) can be used as surrounds. Anyways if you want the same model, I think it is available for 2990/- on Ebay (Price for a pair):

Yamaha 2.0 Channel Speaker Set 100wx2 Excellent As Stereo Or Surround Speakers. | eBay

FYI I've used the same speakers earlier and then upgraded them. You can try Dayton Sat BK for the fronts, they are 2 ways and would sound much better than NS-B20. Just my 2 cents.

Rajiv
