Hello guys,

I'm a total audio noob, so require some expert help here.

I have a Samsung LCD tv which was bought in 2011, and after years persisting with the utterly abysmal sound quality finally decided it's time for my ears to listen to better quality. First off I thought to buy a Philips soundbar which is extremely popular right now and costs around the 4k mark, but I thought definitely a 2.1 setup will better. I do not have enough room for a 5.1 setup.

My main purpose is tv shows and movies all of which are played using a hard disc using the tv's usb feature. Secondary purpose is gaming using my ps3.

One thing I definitely want is optical input to make things easier for me. This is why I can't get the c3.

I started with a 5k budget, thinking anything will be a major upgrade coming from the tv's speakers, but I've increased that budget to 10k now, I want some good quality stuff!

If an amp will be necessary with your suggestion, pass recommend something which I can still get under our around the 10-11k mark.

Currently looking at - Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 2.1

Thanks, keenly waiting for suggestions.

I think Boston 2.1 is a very good speaker system but they are not active speakers. So the problem is that you need an amplifier or an AVR to use them.

There is one more model Boston 2.1 which is an active system and comes with a Bluetooth dongle. Don't recall the exact model No.

That definitely helped, thanks a lot.

Sadly now it's not in my budget anymore. Can anyone suggest more active speakers around my budget?

If you are tight on budget and want your TV to sound better - go for the sound bars.

There are many in Amazon (US site) and try to check if they'll ship to your place depending on ur budget. Good brands like Vizio start around 125$.

Guys, is running a klipsch pro media 2.1 on a tv a good idea? Please suggest.

I searched for soundbars, but the only good one in my range is the JBL SB100, but it has no reviews online, so I couldn't make a decision. Also, I have enough space so I thought that a 2.1 system for my tv would be better.
