I am having two amps and one speaker. Intending to purchase one more speaker shortly. I was thinking of connecting all the amps and speakers in a matrix so that I can use any combination (One set at a time). I googled around and found this as the most viable option prices 100 usd and deliverable to India at another 35/40 USD. But shipping appeared too high to me. The item is available in India, a different brand but same item, but ridiculously priced at 18000.
I discussed with my friends and a few electronic / audio buffs & technicians and (although I rarely have time) decided to build a basic changer driving AMP 1 & 2 in matrix with SPK 1 & 2 with relays. Surprisingly I built it fast in two days and its working fantastic. I am using one pair of speakers presently but tested both the outputs for speakers and they work well. The combination available are
1. AMP A / SPK 1
2. AMP B / SPK 1
3. AMP A / SPK 2
4. AMP B / SPK 2
All the above combinations work excellently.
All the parts are available in local electronic spares shop. I purchased from Chandni CHowk, Kolkata, and total expenses will be approx Rs.900/1000 and your manual efforts. Of course, you must have basic soldering skills and primary knowledge about electronic components.
I upload the schematics (hand drawn by me, but decipherable) and a few photos of the finished item.
Schematics : Schematic
Front : Front
Back : Back
I think many are having similar setups in home and may try this if required.
Last, but not the least, suggestions are welcome about improving the product especially with regard to protection of the amplifiers and speakers.
Regards,
