Hello all,

Does anyone have pointers to 300mm heatsinks that can be used in power amplifier? I see that on diyaudio store, typical widths of heatsinks is 300mm and fin height is 40mm (finned). Getting it from US though is very expensive.

I usually procure heatsinks from Perfect metals in Bangalore but they have at best 250-275mm width. They have other options around 200mm but larger fins. I cannot find 300mm heatsinks with 40mm fins. Can anyone provide some inputs for the same? TIA

Thanks

I remember an old elektor amplifier that used heatsinks as part of the case. Anyone remember which one? I think it was a massive two-tier job with Sanken transistors. The voltage and current amplifiers had separate pcbs which were stacked. Anyone remember that design?

Hi,

heatsinks I used in my amps( here: http://www.hifivision.com/diy/49469-250w-250w-power-amp-build-5.html#post620747 ) are 300mm in length, height is 100~110mm and fin length is 40~50mm.
these are available locally here in Delhi at decent prices.

Regards,
Aniket

please explain how your heatsink is 300mm width ( profile )

your sink s only 100mm- 110 mm width profile sir
LENGTH that you have cut is 300mm !!!
(its another story that your sink placement is incorrect
if you want the fins horizontal you require tunnel cooling )

you can probably easily achieve what you are doing with a sink half this size put the correct way up ( i.e vertical fin )
