M-Audio SuperDac uses AK4393 [same as the kit i grabbed]
, E-MU 0404 PCI v1 uses AK4395, E-MU 0404 PCI v2 uses AK4396.

Although getting parts here is tricky but if one wants to mod the kit this link will help .

i always liked to experiment with cheap kits , so bought this one .
i have a PIO DVDP DV300 (Goldmund transport ??!).. that has I2s lines on the chip , will try tapping and feeding to this kit.

I will post results soon.

sure ! will do a DVDP> dac and CDP>DAC report once done .. the dac kit travelling w/o tracking number . It it works great will be a good upgrade for less.

After some wait the lady is here ..
-they soldered the SMD chips cirrus logic , AK dac chip and one more guy ,also power regulators
-all small 10uf caps are ELNA cerafine , there there 9 pieces!
-filter caps seems to be SAMSUNG or so
-pcb is seems audio grade PTH board with ground plane on top
-opamp is NE5532 ..good value but i will use AD 712 or TLE2142

- good schematic provided but pretty zoomed out
