if you are buying used speakers, is there any particular standard to adhere to regarding the age of the speaker?

for example, speakers 5 years old are ok to buy, but older than 10 years not so etc. maybe due to age, wear and tear etc - not necessarily technology change.

appreciate the feedback.

i think what matters is the condition of the speakers. there are quite a few people here using very old speakers. infact, there are some discontinued speakers that outperform their newer brothers and these go for a premium.

This is one reason why I am retaining my 25 yrs old 'well' used Sony SS-S440 FS. Sweet, mellow, laid back fatigue-free sound, much unlike my other very newly acquired speakers. Not that the newer ones are not desired ......... I love to have a change in everything ..... :p ...:D
