Airtel HD installation query

I had made a request for an Airtel HD installation and just now, they came and installed and went.I called up my friend to go and help the installation as no one else was at home.

He said they connected to an unused Reliance Dish we had already installed at the rooftop for Reliance SD saying they do it at places and that the Dish make doesnt matter at all,even though he pushed to install the Airtel Dish.Is this true ??

Also, the signal strength in their meter was P75 he said....the climate is EXTREMELY cloudy as of now.So, is this a good value?Says picture quality is very good,but he is no videophile and has no experience with anything over local cable.

Plz help me asap so that i can contact them at the earliest since i wont be home until late night and tomorrow would be holiday.

When i migrated from TATASky SD to HD they dint change the dish. I have seen these things ahppening any places, but never heard of retaining the dish from other DTH companies. Technically it should not matter i guess, but insist on Airtel dish only to be safe in future. What happens if Reliance comes and just picks up their dish?

I dont know about the signal meter reading.
 
^^Thanx mate...the Reliance Dish has been there idle for around a year and they said it won't be taken back and even Airtel does the same(that is leaving the Dish and not taking it back when connection cancelled).

Update from friend checking the Box settings : Signal Strenth : 80+ Signal Quality : 40+

Is this anywhere near satisfactory? That 40 reading is sinking my heart.Is that due to heavy cloudy condition?
 
40 is not good. I remember when my friend got the Airtel installed he had a very similar issue of signal strength. He had to complain many times and then Airtel sends an expert who comes and alligns the dish properly. Then the signal jumped. Also he is facing a problem which is still not resolved. He complained about a payment reminder alert which comes on his screen and stays almost for 12 seconds. He has a annual subscription and still faces this problem. This alert occupies almost 30% of his screen in center and happens many times a day. Airtel is not able to fix it from 8 months.

have you upgraded from ur SD airtel to HD ? if thats the case then the guys wont change the dish...but if you got a new install from different provider they have to give u a new dish, ask them for the same if they didnt, its better to get a new set for full HD experience also dish allignment will also make a lot of difference
 
^^Just came home.Picture is great and HD channels are awesome.Will check signal quality and update again in sometime.

He has left the Airtel Dish uninstalled and packed here at my house.Used the Reliance Dish it seems but with newer LNB from Airtel.So,everything should be fine i think?
