altec lansing

Hi,
I have a altec lansing 2.1 speaker system no vs 4121blk.The trouble is that they are not sounding any good.The sound suddenly shoots up and dies down or gets really low and this is persistent.The fun part is this same problem happened for the second time,the first time it happened on an earlier set which i got replaced from the service centre by paying some extra money to the technician over there as the warranty period had just got over in the earlier month.
I want to know how the same problem arose again? and also where in mumbai can i get it serviced as the earlier center has closed and moved elsewhere.

I have the same speakers (vs 4121blk) being used with my PC and have the same problem. - Variation of volume and tone controls for no reason at all.- Sometimes, the problem is worse and very irritating, and sometimes it is hardly noticable. After reading your article, I am almost convinced that this is a common problem and not your's or my fault. But I have to admit, when it works properly, the bass is awesome and vibrates the room.. I don't know how to rectify the problem, but increasing the volume in the speaker system and reducing the level in the system's (computer's) volume control to almost minimum might make it manageable. But, as I said, they are awesome speakers at that price point

Hi,
Thanks subcenter2009 for replying,and i thought i was the only one with such a problem with the lancings,and there is also a constant growling sound eminating from the system,but overall no doubt the speakers are really excellent for pc use :thumbsup: and can you guide me to any service center,i will really regret if were to replace these altecs.
