Intel gets my vote everytime. The config looks fine but I've not had a good experience with either MSI or Gigabyte mobos. Go with Intel or Asus for the mobo. Also, for RAM I'd recommend Corsair over Kingston.

Shud I go Intel or amd

Over the years, I have owned/built few computers. I started with Intel. Then, tried AMD. Using i5 2500K now and enjoying it well. Before i5 it was AMD phenom II X4 9** black edition (IIRC) which I liked well too.

Economic Intel chip also works well while AMD higher end cpu are vfm. AMD fx processors are not bad for the money. If you can find phenom II X4 for a bargain, it will be worth it. I am not a big fan of i3 cpu.

I would rather try to buy i5 or get a good AMD FX. Nvidia gfx card would be better, especially with intel. Asrock, gigabyte boards are vfm. I like my Asus mobo very much (easy to OC and good bios interface).

Heard that MSI mobo ain't that good but my MSI cyclone gfx is still going strong (overclocked).

For HTPC,its actually dedicated the graphic card which is important.
Still I have preferred intel always(not for any strong reasons).

My last cpu is Intel
dual core vth Intel mb..vth 2gb ram
after two yrs of usage my Intel mb intel g31D M37 died nd it is replaced vth another boistar mb nd it is also died.now ..I don't know my mb is died suddenly so rt nw I am in dielamaa ..I don't know everyone is prefering intel over amd...Ofcurse even me...intel is overpriced for price performance ration wisee

I just want to try amd a10 latest version vth fm2+mb(supports 4k) for future proof

You are welcome. One more thing. If you are going to buy a decent cpu, then invest on a good RAM (min of 4gb). I started with 512mb DDR, 2GB, 4GB DDR2 and finally 8GB DDR3 2133mhz. For me, investing on 8GB was worth it.

I bought 2133 because the shop only had 8GB Ripjaws 2133 or else corsair vengeance 1600mhz. I was adamant about having Ripjaws. I love Gskill RAMs. For budget sake, go for 4gb 1333mhz

I like AMD but in your case I would suggest Intel low power consuming CPU
as its going to be on 24*7, don't mind spending more on CPU as you will save that on electricity bill in few months.

Yes I agree. The energy efficient versions of the Intel CPUs cannot be beat. Only problem usually is availability.

One more thing - you should ideally be using the integrated graphics of the and option. A10 6800k is more than sufficient for htpc and will even let you do 720p gaming. At the price and at 100 watts, it now becomes a good option instead of Intel + graphics card - in terms of price and heat.

Unless you plan to use it in crossfire mode for gaming, which I have felt is a really intriguing and exciting option. But don't even know if it is possible.

Only thing is you will need good and fast ram.

Intel if you are investing for long term. Features or spec may not be comparable to a similiar priced AMD. Durability is key item which brings Intel to front.

I have 2 pcs with intel cpu and intel boards. 1 is approx 10 years old and the other one around 4 years. Both work fine. Monitor replaced/ HD replaced/UPS replaced but CPU and MB remained rock solid. thank god!!

So i am completely for Intel CPU. Check if Intel MB is available now. I heard they are stopping Intel MB production.

N.B: Not an Intel fan or have nothing against AMD

Antony
