Hello,

I am looking for a low cost audio system to play light/ instrumental music in a cafe. The area of the place is around 1000 square feet. I have a basic personal computer so thinking of using combination of an amplifier and speakers. The current thinking is that we would not need a sub woofer. Ideally, anything that has less requirement of wiring will be quite useful also.

Could anyone help in scoping this requirement- the specifications of equipment required and potential suppliers. Budget is under 15000 INR in India.

Thank You
TK

1000 Sqft is a large area.. You can consider picking an old 7.1 AVR and playing them in "All channel stereo".. What speakers do you have ?

15000 INR is not enough to fill 1000 sqft area. In your budget look for Sony SA-D100 for 8k which will somewhat fulfill the role for now. Later on if you can increase the budget you can go for commercial audio setup.

15k INR is too less of a budget. A amp like Norge would gobble up the budget by itself. Ideally get an amp, and 3 pairs of very efficient small speakers, connected via speaker selector, that can output to all three pairs. As along as it's for ambient listening, and not too loud, out could work.but you may have to up the budget.

You can consider Sound bar plus wireless subwoofer like JBL 250 etc. They can play reasonably loud and still be distortion free. Jbl 350 is another one which can be bit above the budget.

In that budget for less wires I would recommend Logitech Z623. But given the size of are, would suggest Logitech Z906 5.1 system.

Please note that these are not usual amp/speaker. These are essentially multimedia speakers for use with computer. Given the budget I feel these would be the best bang for buck to play music.

You can get philips or other HTIB but wont be great for music.

For a Cafe to play background music, I don't think computer speakers will help as they are designed more for near field closed room listening.

You could look at a stereo amp(a vintage Nad) with A + B speaker out and connect 4 fairly efficient 8ohm speakers at the corners. The speakers can be mini bookshelf or satellite speakers mounted on the wall. The amp would need a USB dac to connect to the computer. You can try adding a sub afterwards if you feel the need. You would need to run cables which would be a one time thing to keep the connectivity reliable.
