Anyone has experience installing car display/dash screen on older cars? Need help for 10 year old Ertiga

Hi,

I have a ten year old Ertiga Zxi that I rarely drive and dont want to waste money buying another car anytime soon. Given my love for digital screens, get jealous of displays in new cars..particularly the one on Xuv700 Ax5/7.

I dont see too many third party screens on Amazon India. Branded ones like Sony or Pioneer are either too expensive or not available for Ertiga DIN

So turned to Aliexpress instead. Any of you have any experience in something like below?

I just need the car audio and google maps. Cant think of using other apps on this. Also needs to be easily installed by an average local car guy without screwing up the car electronics/car insurance. Hope the stand's adhesive wont melt as my car is parked in the open and gets hot during daytime. Also need to install rto approved 30% garware film to cool it down. Will be even better if I can get rear camera live on this display but not must.

Like most most things chinese...seems one-two factories manufacture them and labelled and sold under different brand names.

Are you planning to do this yourself? Personally I would recommend using a specialist installer to do this as they have all the tools and kits available. We have some really good integrators here in Hyderabad who offer some very good options at different price points.


Some of my friends and family have driven down to Hyderabad to get their cars done and they have been very happy.

It's not very difficult. I don't know about the ertiga specifically, but I installed one myself in my bmw 320d recently. You just need a couple of screwdriver bits and some plastic pry tools, assuming you get one designed specifically for the ertiga.
 
9 and 10 inch universal Android units are available. Get an Ertiga dash kit and you're good to go. Vehicle specific CAN BUS is also available and that will show up your car's status (if supported).
 
Thanks everyone. I did not want to tinker with original audio player that came with the car as my car is very old. I wanted to buy a smart 10.26 inch screen and have it on top of dashboard with some kind of adhesive and then connect it to the car hopefully not with too many wires and I guess it will take power from the cigarette power slot. Is it a bad idea? seems to cost only 5-6K on aliexpress. In my 10 years I have driven less than 30K Km and hence dont want to spend 20-30K on something I rarely use.

You can also think of installing an Android Tablet. Car Tablet Mounting Kits with rugged cover are available plenty. You can remove it whenever you don't want it in Car and use for personal computing. You can route the audio through Bluetooth, just like we do with Mobile phones.

Can you give more info on this pls. I got few fire tablets lying around..its 10 inch so heavy...Not sure if it will display google maps from my phone.need to check. Also need to see what kind of contraption can hold it tight as any adhesive mount wont work. I to will google..although I have had no luck googling earlier. Thx

I am just impressed with these Youtube videos, some DIY ways, you can check for similar Youtube videos. so you can get some ideas. .





 
I have ertiga too. Installed bluepunkt keylargo 980 in the 2din slot. Faaar better than the dash system my ertiga came with. Maps, Fm and blietooth i use everyday- its a must have!!! For long drives youtube prime netflix and movies in pen drives keeps my family entertained. Got map my india headrest monitors connecter to this for rear seat entertainment. Absolute bliss!!
The ones in xuv700 doesnt feel integrated. Looks more like a after market fit. I personally feel so!
