After a month long research, finally decided to go with AP Thyaga CD transport and received my Unit Yesterday.Had a 5 hours non-stop music listening session and the Thyaga Transport performed outstandingly well.It reveals Music details layer after layer, generates broad sound stage, offers tight bass, more air in upper frequencies & rich tonal texture. It offers outstanding value for money.
Appreciate Mr.Siva's excellent efforts for designing & engineering such a wonderful CD transport at a very fair price range.:clapping:

Good that you are able to enjoy the music on inserting the Thyaga Cd player.. Can I know what are the other components connected with CD player?

Regards

Which DAC are you using with the transport ? What is your rest of the system ? Did you compare it with any other transport (or player being used as a transport) ?

I am also planning to buy a transport for a long time but never could justify it to myself.

reignofchaos had also been raving about the Thyaga CD Transport, which he uses with his AMR DP777.

I'm also curious to know what you have in your setup upstream and downstream.

curious to know - how much is the price ?

Many congratulations :-). So you finally bit the bullet. After getting this transport, I'm listening to CDs more than ever. My computer based listening over the last couple of weeks has been a nought.

vsvasan has the exact same dac as me - the AMR DP-777.

Siva uses the VERY well regarded ( and Expensive) Philips CDM Pro CD Transport.

Has the makings of a GREAT Transport.

Shivam, I am convinced that a Good Transport is hard to beat in Sound Quality. It takes a LOT of tweaking and a REALLY good USB input on a DAC to get to Transport quality.

Whether the CD transport will sund better will depend on the capabilities of the rest of the reproduction chain......

vsvasan, Welcome to the "AP Club"!!

If you bought this at the recent price offered by AP - that price is below cost.
Congratulations on picking up a great piece of kit!

Dedicated CD Transport with Cd reading mechanism like Philips CDPRO2,used with External DAC will certainly make difference, even, when compared with moderately high end CD Players----This is the conclusion,I have arrived, after using OPPO BDP-95 and Marantz CD Players along with my existing set-up
consisting of

ACCUPHASE E450 Integrated Amplifier
Tannoy Revoltion DC6T SE Speakers
Chord Crimson RCA Interconnet Cables & Audo Quest Type-4
Speaker Cables

DAC used with AP Thyaga Transport is AMR DP 777

Came across following information on the Net

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD Transports essentially take the transport section of a CD player and place it into one box, removing the DAC. Why? The act of separating the CD transport from the DAC, like a separate power amplifier and pre amplifier, is designed to offer better performance than a single box unit by virtue of being designed for a single purpose, not sharing components and having separate power supplies, etc.

High end CD Transports seek to avoid jitter wherever or however possible, through various technologies and isolation techniques. These units are designed to read the CD as accurately as possible without any possibility of interference of other circuitry such as a DAC, and high end models go to great lengths to isolate the transport from the power supply, through anti-resonance measures and damping techniques which prevent vibrations from the power supply affecting the ability of the transports laser reading the disc. Many high end models will seek to avoid the mechanised loading trays of some one box CD players. As these mechanisms require power to eject and insert discs, avoiding these can prevent the need for additional circuitry and power, thus further isolating the CD reading mechanism from resonance.
