Are all USB C cables same?

Do qualify the statement if possible
I think I agree, but have no facts to justify this belief except that good quality materials used in manufacture will result in better performance whether perceptible or not.
There are tons of cable companies twisting wires this way and that, and claiming they landed on the best lay possible. Sprinkle some silver somewhere along the cable, and one can add a few zero's to the price.

Ansuz seem to be the only ones, doing things differently. They dont talk about copper or silver or the 0.000000999% purity BS. They only claim their helix and tesla coils, coupled with their grounding and active shielding reduces noise travelling on the cable and nothing else. And users seem to agree. I have a hankering to try them, but they are firmly in the kidneys territory, and both of them at that 🤣

Cool tool, but they are comparing apples and oranges! Usb-c <> thunderbolt, as I am sure you all know. Tbh, sounded line an apple advert

Also, I feel the huge confusion exists because the Type-c connector is so versatile. You have the same connector now on both the Hosts and the peripherals. Same connector that can do USB 2.0 to 4.0. Same connector that can do say 10w charging all the way to 240w. Obviously it will be a mess.

Pretty disingenuous of them to compare a thunderbolt 4 cable with a basic usb 3.0 cable. One is rated for 40gbps while the other is only rated for 5gbps. There is obviously going to be a lot of difference in the construction of the same.

The entire video felt like an apple advertisement. Maybe it was - who knows what their funding is like.

They should have compared the Apple TB4 cable with TB4 cables from other vendors that cost half or less than what apple charges. I bet the internals won't be too different as these bits are all standardized.

Definitely not a honest review. They talk as if only Apple makes such usb cable with the world's greatest chip. In fact all usb-c cable which can do fast-charging come with a chip inside. They talked about the sturdiness of the cable. My experience has not been stellar with the apple usb-c cable for my macbook pro. They become bad at the point which goes inside the macbook especially when you using the macbook in the bed and which results in lot of movement. I have lost two cables by now. Rs 1900 per cable. I finally decided enough is enough. I now use my google nexus usb c cable (which also has the chip to do PD). It is shorter but much better in handling rough use.

The old macbook magsafe cables last much longer. The connector was a right angle connector and hence resulted in much less stress to the cable at the point of entry. If apple could think of long lasting cables in the past, why not now? Obviously the short lasting cables too must be earning apple a good revenue.

Good points.
So if I wanted a good USB C cable which brand should I select?
I would definitely not want to waste money on snake oil cables

what is the use case? Fast Charging or for audio.

If for audio, then that chip is not needed. A good short thick braided cable should do. I use one from Ikea. It is serving me well. Unfortunately that is the only usb-c cable I'm using for audio. So I can't recommend anythng exotic. Surely others who have had more experience will pitch in.

As far as I understand, audio is not particularly demanding in terms of bandwidth. So if a cable works for audio, it'll work. I don't think a particular cable will work any better or worse - it will either work or not.
High resolution video, large file transfers etc. may push the limits of the interface, and hence the cable may become the limiting factor. But not for audio. That's my understanding.

USB C is the connector and not the cable.
Cables with USB C connectors have a choice of complying with 4 USB 3.2 versions. And that is as per my knowledge which might now be behind the times.

So to answer the question:
1. Even though multiple cables may have the same type of USB C connectors they may not be the same because they may comply with different USB versions.
2. If multiple cables with USB C connectors comply with the same USB version/specification then they are the same.

Welcome to the crazy world of USB!
