In these troubled times for indian rupee against the pound, dollars and euro, it looks like the dirham ( aed) has pretty much remained steady against these currencies. How are Dubai prices for audio components now ? It has gone through the roof in India :mad:

I can see that the Indian rupee has fallen marginally against the AED in the last one year.

How does the equation work out ? Does it make sense to pick up stuff from Dubai ?

Dubai A/V prices are super awesom. Go to Sharaf DG and Thomson, my cousin got my Deftechs from Dubai for about 20k cheaper.

ONE THING THOUGH - Dubai flights are sometimes more prone to customs, so be cautioned.

I am not sure if your consideration is in fact correct. Today the AED is trading at 17.05 v/s INR where as same day last year ie on sep 25'2012 the AED was trading at 14.53 v/s INR. You will find the variance is exactly same in case of USd to INR.

Basically the AED being pegged against the USD @ 3.67 any fluctuation in the INR against USD reflects immediately in the AED / INR rates.

All rates are sourced from XE.com. Actual rates may vary from FX companies or banks.

Just my two cents on this.

You pretty much need 4 AED to match 1 dollar. So the difference of 2.5 INR from last year to now for an AED matches with the approx. 11 INR difference in the dollar. So if you convert and pay from India, you pretty much dont save much except probably get the benefit of inherently lower pricing in Dubai.

Wharfedale Linton Heritage Speakers in Walnut finish at a Special Offer Price. BUY now before the price increase.
