Audio Pilgrimage to God's Own Country

Dear Santhosh,
The AR speakers are 925 E and wharfdales are 517 C class Handmade ones. I got a JBL 82 speakers yesterday and I may be getting a pair of vintage Marantz speakers today.

Santhosh, I still wish you had more time there! You should have stayed for one more day! :) I could have listened to my rig for one more day!
I wish I had more time, if only I could have extended my trip further! I also wanted to check out bijin and bibin's DIY creations too.

Thanks Santosh for this thread. Few days back Mr. Kuruvilajaocob visited Kolkata and I learnt a lot from him. Now I am eagerly following your thread and please post all the details of his setup.
He mentioned about meeting you and the visit to Jamaluddin's shop and the LPs he got from there. Btw, LP collection is coming up next and also something that every serious Vinyl enthusiast already has or wants to have - a simple DIY RCM. But that's all for today, some pending DIY beckons:licklips:

great shots. makes one just drool with anticipation over the good food, music and hospitality that the denizen inside has to offer...
thoughtful of you to have shared your experience with all of us...

...don't forget, the quietness. An advantage to music listening. :)

Yes, and following his advise, I picked up a vintage Sonodyne speaker, (which he had noticed it in a shop in Kolkata). Believe me, it has taken my system to a different level. One thing, I would be keen to know is how to take care of vintage speakers.

With vintage speakers, never crank the volume up initially. if it's not used for a long time, it would be better to change the caps and see if there are any holes on the paper or surrounds. Once it is done, they are like wine, they improve with age!

Last few days have been busy - mostly at work and also some holidays away from home. So, continuing where I left....

Like I mentioned earlier, Kuruvilajacob has a huge ever growing collection of Vinyl records. Over 2000 and growing :eek:hyeah:.

I only had a chance to listen to a few that day. Apart from the usual suspects like Dave Burbeck, Louis Armstrong, Ella etc, we listened to some very well pressed LPs of Bill Evans and Silsila (especially the Santoor Song by Pt. Shivkumar Sharma)....

Santhosh,

The Pet Sound by Beach Boys and Sun Session by Elvis are rare records according to a friend of mine

They're both quite readily available, actually, especially in the US.
The real rarity in the pics is the Veejay LP of The Beatles and Frank Ifield. In NM condition it could easily fetch $500 and upwards.
