Following up on our earlier tip that everything in your room affects the sound, here’s an important corollary: the more objects in the room, the more unpredictable variables you introduce.
Every shelf, table, knick-knack, or unused gear can act as a reflective, absorptive, or even resonant surface. This clutter doesn’t just mess with your aesthetics, it can dampen dynamics, blur imaging, and rob the system of the sense of “air.” Keep the listening space as clean and open as possible. A well-placed carpet, diffuser, or a couple of panels will do more for your sound than crowding the room with extra furniture.
Rule of thumb: if it doesn’t contribute to comfort or acoustics, it’s probably hurting your sound.
