HI..my Tata Sky HD box is connected to my AVR and works seamlessly. My AVR converts non HD sound into 5.1 and displays pro logic. When I tune to HD channels the display on my AVR changes to DD Digital.

I was trying to demo my setup to a friend this weekend when I noticed that even when I play HD channels, display remains pro logic and does not change in DD Digital. I thought this might be due to some issue with signals and hence I played recorded HD content and surprisingly even then display on my AVR doesnt change to DD digital.

I did check the settings and sound output shows up as DD Digital and not PCM.

Any idea why this is happening? would any loose connections in my speaker cables cause this (Assuming not all my 5.1 speaker are properly connected?)

Kindly check some HD channels dont provide DD 5.1, u can crosscheck all HD channels
u can check with some Bluray ,DVD discs or with Bluray /DVD rips movies which is encoded with dolby digital 5.1 . (Also dont forget to do the bitstream settings in ur bluray player ,so that decoding will be done by AVR )

I called up tata sky to complain on the HD sound..she asked me to switch off..remove cables and switch on and connect cables...strangely it worked...now I get proper 5.1 HD sound....so if anyone else has similar issues...now u know the solution..switch on and switch off :indifferent14:

Strange indeed but good that it worked :clapping:
Would keep in mind and try same first, if the STB exhibits similar behavior.
Thanks for the update.
