I spent about an hour in B&H a huge audio/electronics/camera store, located on 9th Ave in Manhattan.Their store is awesome, among other things I auditioned 3 sets of headphones, two selling for about $1000-Denon and Sennheiser, and another $1400 one, powered by Rolls headphone amps. Bonocs, cameras, AV receivers, lenses,projectors, screens. by the dozen!

I hope you checked out the simple but effective and elaborate conveyor system [which runs up the sides of the walls and across the ceiling] that they have in place which gets products from their stocks in the basement to the counters and to the pickup counters. I have not seen anything like it anywhere.

Yes, the conveyor system is quite amazing, and seeing it working was very interesting. So also the large numbers of Jewish guys with beards and caps manning the sales counters, the very competitive pricing, the different languages that you hear spoken by international buyers, and the sheer scale of the outlet. The way people move has been very intelligently designed and there are multiple levels of help and security to guide and monitor things. Quite remarkable!

The description (except the conveyor belt) would probably describe New York City well too. I was once told that there are people from 150 countries living in NYC. The city can be amazing and terrifying (sometime at the same time). Have fun shopping!

B&H is one of THE Best electronic stores in the US. I have got camera equipment like digital SLR , lenses, flash, filters and everything was ordered from B&H. Two of my friends brought it from US to India duty free hyeah:

saved me some serious amount of money..

They also have an office in Pune. Can get you everything that is available on their website of course duty paid. Sometimes it still cheaper that buying direct in India retail.
