Hi guys
I am looking for a new media player which should be as the title suggests.
I can spend upto 10 k but if i am geting a good one for 4-5k less it would be great.
So give all the options.
Main use is movies hd and dvd rips and mp3s.
It should be free of any bugs.
One more thing i wamt to know is the hard drive.i know every player dont come with intern storage.so what type of hardisk should i buy a 3.5 or2.5 inch?
What is main difference between these two and which one is mostly used and is better?
Any info on there price will be great too?
Thanks

Hi
I am also currently looking for one good HDD media player. I had gone through some of the reviews in two magazines (T3 and ???).
Argosy had some good reviews and it cost 13k with 500 GB hard disk i guess. My budget s also somewhere near 6k to 8k only for the player as i already have a 500 GB Seagate with me. I am planning to connect it to my HT.
My req would be like it should support formats like mkv, divx, vob and the audio should be really good. Audio support for DTS and Dolby is mandate..
People already using media players, please help..

What about my hard disk query.if this is an apt reply then why dont you do the honours and search the forum and give me the link.
No new threads should be created then.just follow the old ones.rite?
With time there are new launches and so i created a new thread so that what i get is the latest and it is a good way to get replies faster rather than posting in an old thread.

Dmann, HFV is powered by Google search. Media players have been discussed in length and answers to all your queries are already there. There is a thread where ALL the media players in the world have been compared in terms of technology.

HFV is public forum and people are here by their own volition. It is rude to expect any one to 'do the honours' as you put it. Why should any one search for you and provide links when you can do it yourself? And, you are the one who knows your requirements best.

There is no harm is creating a new thread as long as it is meaningful. When there are numerous threads that already have answers to all your questions, why create a new one?

When there is a launch of a new product, believe me there are members who will create a thread with relevant details. Though you might get replies faster with a new thread, please remember, unless the thread is interesting, members are not going to even bother. And being rude will only worsen the situation.

Regarding your question about 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch drives - 3.5 inc drives are used in desktops and modern drives go upto 2TB or even more. If you are using them externally, they need a large cabinet as well as external power supply. 2.5 inch drives are small ones that are used in laptops. They are limited to some 250 GB in capacity. In most cases they can be driven by the power from the USB. When used externally, 2.5 inch drives are more prone to failures.

Cheers

I agree to you but was just a bit annoyed at that kind of reply.
So it is better to buy a 2.5 inch external drive?
Can you pls tell the price of one good 1 tb and 500 gb drive.
Thanks

i am going to be buying a media player, i have shortlisted the WD TV live , Egreat R6A and Xtreamer sidewinder. my main criteria is to watch mkv's with hd audio, so the player having the option of passing thru hd audio is a must, pls suggest which should i buy my budget is 10k. is the service good for Egreat products in India.
