Best HD media player for Music (Digital out)

Is there any good media player which is good for Music with digital out (external dac will be used)? How is the digital out from Asus Mini / WD Live?

WD Live digital out has too much bass.... cant blame it...juz more tuned for movies...

Does the mediaplayers' digital out come manipulated?

Actually I am thinking to use a media player instead of a CarPC since I am not able to find a good 5.1 channel sound card (for active 2 channel setup). Is there any?

The digital out from the motherboard and a media player should be same. Hence the thought...

Even i wud b interested in tht...

To me there are two part to sound reproduction in a digital player
1. reading the digital media and creating a square wave
2. square wave to analog conversion

Using a external DAC would ensure that D to A algo used is from DAC than media player... but how do u get control of the first part... especially in a media player like WDTV which doesn't have equalizer
