Hey guys,

I have been a member of this forum for roughly 3 months and it has been very knowledgeable and helpful.

I am slowly stepping into the hifi world and has got myself a MS Carnival 8 and a TOPPING TP 20 amp for a start. I read that Carnival 8 can be bi-amped..Was wondering what it is..
will i need an AV receiver to bi amp or will another amplifier do the trick..??

Kindly enlighten me regarding this..thank you guys

See the picture above for a schematic on what you need for bi-amping.
You will need two amps - one connected to the HF and another for LF.

You also need to have a speaker with separate binding posts for the HF and LF. When bi-amping remove the links which usually connect the posts. (see pic)

Ideally bi-amping is done with a preamp feeding two separate power amps (one each for the LF and HF) with a crossover in between to separate the HF and LF feed.

If you have an integrated with a Pre-Out, you can then use the Pre-Out to a power amp etc.

Hello Nikhil,

This case you need to remove the passive X over from the speakers as you have mentioned active X over before power amp. Just for info...

My next upgrade will look like what you have shown!!!

Thanks

Chethan, I just replied to your PM. After re-reading your first post, you need to use an amp with more power for your MS Carnival 8s. I would say something like a 50-70W amp at least. Any reason you mention AVR? Lots of first timers pick an AVR because a lot of sales outlets are geared towards Home Theater. Unfortunately they are not good for stereo. Before you buy an amp I suggest you listen to some setups before deciding.

If you like music mostly then a stereo amp is better. If you like movies more then you can consider an AVR. Generally you can get a very decent integrated stereo amp which can do basic duty for movies to start with.

I have a Krell 260A x 2 plus pre
B&W 804 speakers
M2Tech Young DAC

How would I bi amp this?

Dear Pal, I don't seem to remember that Krell model. Is it a receiver and do you have two of them? Are they monoblocks? Can each be used in a stereo configuration?
Honestly the post above is excellent in its clarity on how to biamp. You need to check that you components have all the required inputs and outputs and then buy the connecting cables to link them as per the diagram.
I am not sure why you feel you need to bi-amp (unless it's just for fun).
