I think Hemant asked the question because 'Black Friday' is such a stupid, meaningless term that gives no indication of why it was created, just by reading it. It's typical of the American habit of trying to 'dumb' things down to the point of there being no meaning left in the name.

To non Americans - yes.
stupid - yes
meaningless - no. It seems to have a meaning depending on who you hear it from.

it is as stupid as any other Indian custom is stupid to Americans.
Hemant - this is the time when there are insane deals available in America - mostly in-store, but online deals are plenty too.

And you will see Americans waiting outside the stores (in winter!!!!) whole night to get 'hot deals' when they open the stores on friday. Ha ha ha ...crazy guys!!

You should take a closer look. Most of them will be Indians hyeah:
