I am visiting US soon and looking at picking up the Denon 2312CI. I am getting the refurbished one form ecost @ $415 which is at significantly lower price than new one (~ $560 with new price).
Since the warranty will not hold in India and given the price diff I think its worth the risk. Besides its listed as one of the refurb re-sellers on denon site also.

- Though i searched around and found most folks(mainly US) are using them fine...but anyone having any experience with refurb products bought from US?

- Though I have read numerous threads on bringing stuff from US, but any tips(packing, handling customs etc.) will be much appreciated.

Hello Avink,

My take is the risk is not worth it, get new as based on todays exchange rate the difference is about Rs 7,000.

Mainland US and mera bharat mahan are two different things.

Yes the price is attractive but as we cannot say what refurbishment this unit has gone thru, do you think it is worth the risk?

Bringing from US to India itself is a risk plus the added risk of a refurb unit and remember no service without charges so any service would negate the cost advantage.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Vinod. R u saying that for the new Denon, warranty will hold good in India?

Hi Avink,

I am not sure of the warranty part but at least we can hope that it will not conk off during its long journey!

I am sure more knowledgeable members can say about it, but gut feeling says no warranty.

Thanks guys. now that i think of it..i am leaning towards buying a new one. Esp because I wont have the luxury of returning it in case there is an issue.
