Bullshit of the week: Denon AK-DL1 Ethernet Cable

Here is another one (originally posted in slashdot). A one meter HDMI cable for $1095.

Don't forget to read some of the reviews posted on the bestbuy site.

AudioQuest - Diamond 3.3' High-Speed HDMI Cable - Dark Gray/Black - 65-083-02

One sample review:

This is the best cable ever! I was so impressed by the 2160p picture and 3D sound I sold a kidney to buy a second one!
Although the surgery was a little risky and I couldnt understand my sergon (I think he was speak spanish) it was completely worth it. Something interesting I found is if I take both cables put one in my mouth and the other in my ear I can control my TV and project images and sounds from my brain! And becasue my TV is internet capable I can surf the web without having to move a single muscle. This unfortunatly has caused be to become lathargec and all of my musciles to atrophy because I dont need to leave my coutch. But in the end I will to become one with the TV, what more could I ask for!
Thank you AudioQuest, you're the Best Buy!

It's a cable with RJ45 connectors at each end. Rather nice ones, too, without that stupid plastic clip that catches on everything when you are trying to pull it clear of the cable tangle which is an essential feature of any high end system (the tangle ensures random cross talk which is self cancelling, thus giving unaffected transmission where neat, parallel cables would be subject to all sorts of interference with each other. An additional feature of the cable tangle is the dust ball (keep at least one cat) which adds an extra level of shielding.

Wait. I've got lost... Let me try again...

It doesn't actually say that it is an ethernet cable, or claim that it conforms to cat-this cat-that or cat-the-other standards. It might even be utterly useless for networking!

Anyway, it has a smart cover, with blue stripes, that has to be worth $500, no?

But, the best news of all, is that Denon's US site lists it as a discontinued product. Perhaps they found their customers were not as stupid as they hoped?

Awesome cable; going by the reviews, it must be definitely worth the price. Only drawback is that it may take a couple of decades for proper burn-in given its anti-aging properties (as given in the product description). But if someone can 'keep' it that long, I am sure, like a old wine, it could become holier and can be sold at a higher price - may be $20,000 or more.
