Got a quick question.
I have an LG LM6700.

It is a smart TV with apps.
Would I need squeezebox if I need to play internet radio?

TV has HDMI to receiver so wouldn't that be easier.
Please clarify.

Internet radio shall be played by many other devices. Like smart TV, media players, even a smart phone like android phone/iphone.

Squeebox touch can play music files of different formats including loseless format like flac. Also they are network music players. And yes they can play internet radios too. The audio quality of squeezebox touch will be much better than what a smart tv can produce.

If one is serious music listener, then focus on the requirement and need to choose the gears accordingly. If the music listening is casual and occasional then using smart TV will be fine.

Will the display of TV be kept on during music listening or does it work with display off?

I have not set up my TV with the music system yet.
I am still in the processing of buying the speakers.

Yes, the TV will be on during playback.
LG LED TV consume very less power.

Practically TV display on during one or two hour of music playback is definitely not something i would personally prefer. Also if the quality of audio from TV is good enough, why not buy a simple music player in the range 4 to 5K with USB support. Atleast that will give the freedom of portability to the music listening which TV can not provide.

Thanks. Thats a great idea.
I will look in for other players.

When I say TV audio. I will be connecting the TV by HDMI to Pioneer reciever which will play audio to 5.1 system.

It should work fine. However, just be eco friendly and turn the display off when playing music - if you TV has that feature.
Are you able to send audio out to your AVR from your TV? If not, the TV may also have an optical out.

Thanks. It has got audio outs through HDMI, Optical & RCA.

One of the reasons why I chose this TV was low power consumption.
Primary reasons was its looks, of course.

LG 55LM6700 Review & Rating | PCMag.com

In our power consumption tests, the 55LM6700 used an average of 67 watts with energy-saving features turned off, and 48 watts when energy-saving features set to minimum, which kept the picture very watchable and only slightly dimmed the screen. This is very good for a 55-inch HDTV, and comparable to the 46-inch, LED-based Sony KDL-46EX620 ($809.99, 3.5 stars). Because the power consumption is so reasonable with a sufficiently bright picture, this set earns our GreenTech approval.
