From a carpaenter's perspective, the tight butt joining mean applying fevicol and driving home some nails. From a DIY audiophile's perspective, it requires a few clamps and a few more screws, probably countersunk too.
Same thing goes for flush mounting the speakers on the baffle. It's nothing but a hand carving work for the carpenter. But for the DIY audiophile, it's a job to be done by router.
You can get the carpenter to make the cabinet for your speakers. But they can't make a "speaker" cabinet for you. It might be very harsh to say "they can't make..." in the previos sentence. But that's the fact.
I've our carpenter who has done interior works for our home (post forming shutters & manual ply + laminate shutters). I've recomended him to my family & friends too, including our builder. Now, he has a steady stream of work from the builder himself. He is very good. All those who've employed him have been happy about his work so far. However, for making a speaker cabinet, I'm not sure of how well he could do it as per the cabinet requirements.
You might've to tell him/ (or the other carpenters you might employ) about the need for various nitty, gritties like the need for screws, using the mdf instead of ply, braces, usages of clamps, caulking the joints to arrest the gaps et al.
The follow up makes whether you get just a cabinet or a speaker cabinet.
Good luck!
