from review:
"The real special feature is the ipod integration, which bypasses the ipod's digital audio converter (DAC) and uses the better quality Burr-Brown DAC built into the unit. I've tested aac and apple lossless files on my ipod and they sound great. You plug in the ipod and it goes through an 'authentication'.. which is apparently how a device can get access to the digital audio stream from the ipod rather than the analog line out. There are other high-end audio products that can do this, but at far higher cost."

Are you talking about CD6003 here?

I understand here what attracts Kaushik is tapping digital stream from ipod ,which is processed by DAC of Teac CDP
After Wadia and Onkyo I think only Teac has got the Hardware,Software and most important APPLE AUTHORISATION for taking out i-pod digital stream.( Any other company apart from Redwine which has shown products with Ipod digital out?)

But instead of releasing DAC they are incorporating this capacity in Receivers, CD Players and all in ones.
Now Teac may be cheap products for someone but under Teac brand names too they have some mid end products, especially their reference line which has many half sized ,good quality and good looking components.

Also Teac has a professional brand called Tascam ,highly regarded in professional studios and have a TOP END brand Esoteric. Esoteric CD players are highly regarded. Other components too. ( Unfortunately I never heard Esoteric, always read about it, I think Prem sir has/had esoteric rig)

I was about to start a thread about Teacs other interesting products - One all in one ( CD In Built) and other Amplifier/Receiver with on board DAC, Ipod Digital Streaming , USB DAC and Music streaming on wi fi ( I interpret this as playing music on your wi fi PC and Gadget connected to it via wi-fi!

Anyone personally heard above CDP/All In One/ Receiver ,any experiences?

hemant,
u got me :) .Thanks for the detailed info on Teac.
I think the Itouch playback will be somehow satisfactory, and u will not get bored with only CDs.

One cool idea:
connect ipod via a wireless adapter ,that becomes a wirelesss midend music playback unit.

most of the time i check offtrack products ,which are less popular here but VFM.
Also gathering information on PCMCIA soundcard(some special 1)> (ultra faithful!)DAC route

I tunes streaming is possible by Apple airport express
I have a rig ( WIP) but not able to explore much in last 6 months - Netbook with HDD with ALAC Music ,WiFi bt MTNL, Airport Express to DAC ( or Another amp with onboard Dac) -to amp

Tp sound was good , but I do not have very good CD to compare.
I was planning to BUY wadia or onkyo Dac but alas ...short of cash!!:rolleyes:

there are two ways of doing it afaik.
1. using ipod's interface to play a file, and the output goes out as digital - like wadia, onkyo dock, peachtree, hrt istreamer.

2. usb connector accesses files on ipod and plays them locally.

I guess the cdp may be doing 2. It is done in some marantz cdps as well.

regards

Recheck I think CDP doing 1 It is tapping data

Teac is heavily banking on this feature
But again need to recheck
