I have Irving M Fried Signature A6 speakers. They have a transmission line and go down to 30 Hz. I was running them on 2.1 with the avr settings not optimised. I recently changed settings on the avr to LARGE speakers in 2.0 mode, from the earlier settings of small speakers in 2.1. it made a huge difference and the sound is much better now . MY AVR is a Harman kardon AVR 3550 from 2002. I don't have its remote control and I have struggled to get its on screen display on the TV screen.

Tldr point: explore the AVR settings for optimised sound

Thanks 🙏 to @sandeeprao

Changing the settings from 2.1 to 2.0 will send all the bass signals to the front speakers. In 2.1 it cut of lower frequencies being sent to the subwoofer. Even switching speakers from small to large will make them have more bass than before.

As already said, keeping them large was the way to go in the first place. I still suggest running them at 2.1 cause the sub can always play lower.

Many make the mistake of running Auto Setup and letting the AV Receiver do its thing. 9 out of 10 times, even a large speaker is set to Small. You lose A LOT of bass as a result of this, or, you end up off loading it all to the sub woofer by setting the cross over at 80hz. If you have a loud speaker capable of playing low, you should let those signals go there. Not cut it off.
