Hi guys , this is my first post and i am really a big noob in this field . Recently i purchased a cheap 55' Videocon LED 3D HDTV and am looking for enhancing its sound . I know many people would ask why videocon but i am happy with its video performance , 3d is also good .
The only shortcomings of this model is its low connectivity options . It has just a single av output , no digital or optical audio output neither a headphone jack ! I also got a Samsung BD player BD-5500 which has a single digital coaxial audio output and one HDMI OP . My Videocon D2h has 1 HDMI , 1 spdif and 1 AV output .
Now the thing is i am not looking for any 5.1 speakers as of now . I have a pair of Logitech Z623 speakers lying idle . They only have RCA inputs .On PC these sounds good to me but when i connect them via RCA they are crap .
I got this fiio d03k FIIO-Speaker to connect BD player to speakers and they sound good . Similarly if i connect it with D2H the sound is good . I dont want to use output from tv since it has a hissing sound .
So basically i need a cheap Receiver which has atleast 2 digital inputs or 2 HDMI input and one output . My budget is just around 10k so please guys suggest something so that i can use mu Z623 to its full potential . Again sorry for the long post , i said i was a noob !

You can try out used AVRs from forum and places like "www.htstore.in". Again, you still need to spend money for speakers (if you want 7.1 etc.,). If you are looking for complete pacage within 10K, then as baijuxavour suggested, HTIB is the option. You check out Sony and Phililps for cheaper HTiB.

I have an older Onkyo TX-DS747 AVR. It is pre-HDMI era AVR and suitable for 5.1. It is in excellent working condition. I have upgraded to Denon 1910 since then. I can let you have it for Rs. 7500. Specs here.

Is that site trustworthy . There isnt much information posted regarding the product . Does it have a remote , also i need atleast 2 digital coaxial inputs , one for BD player and other for D2H HD . Problem of videocon HD D2H is when connected to coaxial output one cannot control the volume from the set topbox remote !

I allready have a Samsung 3d blu ray player and a pair of good PC speakers with RCA analog inputs ie. Logitech z623 . I am not planning to upgrade speakers right now if i dont have any other choice .

Is the site trustworthy ? Not much information given about the product like number of inputs etc . Also i need a remote control since volume of thespeakers connected to digital output of Videocon d2h hd cannot be controlled by the setop box's remote .

I am not interested in speakers as of now . I have a pair of logitech Z623 PC speakers with RCA analog inputs which i want to connect to the setup .

The seller is based in Kerala and I have talked with him about a few products. Call him on his phone number regarding product enquiries. There are two models of this converter available and I think the higher model has remote control. I suggest you to take just4kix's offer. An avr is always better than such decoders.

My old Onkyo AVR is perfectly suitable for DVDs. It was/is not suitable for BDs. That is only reason I upgraded. Further it has bass/treble controls which is usually missing on most AVRs. The only difference that I find between modern AVRs and the old one is:

- Modern AVRs have capability to decode HD audio including lossless audio such as Dolby TruHD, DTS HD-MA, Uncompressed PCM
- HDMI inputs (my Denon 1910 is restricted to v1.3 and not 3D ready)

On the other hand the my Onkyo has more analogue inputs and has pre-amp out also, something that is missing in most modern entry to mid-level AVRs.

^ kix one question...

do your old onkyo reciever have 6 separate analogue input?? to attach it from dvd player's 6 different analouge outputs.......

thank you

I have a large collection of BD disks around 50 of them and a lot more on my Hard disk . Does that AVR have atleast 2 digital coaxial audio inputs ? What will be the limitations of it if used with Blu Ray content besides the usual ability to decode HD content , i mean will it atleast drive my 2.1 PC speakers ?

The Onkyo AVR has three digital inputs as usual - two coaxial and one optical. The limitation with this AVR and BD will be that:

- DD 5.1: no problem
- Dolby-THD: will be downgraded to DD 5.1
- DTS and DTS HD-MA: will be downmixed to 5 channel LPCM
- Uncompressed PCM: downmixed to 5 channel LPCM

The AVR can drive 2 speakers, 2.1 speakers, 5.1 speakers in various combinations. The AVR needs to be setup that way:

a) For pure 2 channel stereo:
... Front Speakers: LARGE
... Rear Speakers: NO
... Sub-woofer: NO

b) For pure 2.1 channel stereo:
... Front Speakers: LARGE or SMALL
... Rear Speakers: NO
... Sub-woofer: YES

c) For pure 5.1 channel stereo:
... Front Speakers: LARGE or SMALL
... Rear Speakers: SMALL
... Sub-woofer: YES

"Small" engages bass management. "Large" means no bass management.

(*) Choose LARGE when the speakers are full range and should receive the full spectrum of the frequency
(*) Choose SMALL when there is a separate sub-woofer and main speakers should receive the upper bass, mid and high range of the frequency. SMALL should also be used when the speakers are not capable of deep bass.

I will setup a "Sell by owner" thread shortly, but here is the complete list of inputs and outputs:

Inputs
Analogue AV Ports: 4 AV RCA anaologue-in (Video 1 to Video 4) each with S-Video in. Video-4 is parallel on rear as well as front panel.
Analogue Audio-in: 4 RCA audio-in for components such as Tape 1, Tape 2, CD, and Phono.
Digital Audio-in: 2 ports - two coaxial, one optical

Outputs
Video-out: 2 (Video 1 and Video 2) analogue RCA + S-Video
Monitor (video) out: 2 - one S-video and one composite RCA (Yellow)
Multi-Source pre-out: 2 (L+R)
Pre-amp out: 5 channel pre-amp out for L+R+C+RL+RR
Sub-woofer out: 1

Speakers
Front Speakers A: 2 channels
Front Speakers B: 2 channels
Center: 1 channel1
Rear: 2 Channels

Power
AC-In: 230V/50Hz.
AC-Out: 230V/50 Hz. for power load not exceeding 100 W
I think that there is 110V <--> to 230V selecter also, but I am not sure.
