Hi All,

I didn't find too much info on this. So just wanted some help in choosing center channel speakers. I plan to get them from US in about 2-3 months. My budget is < $300. My current setup is pioneer vsx-930 and NHT Superzeroes 2.1 (8ohm speakers). I have no sub as of now, but I will purchase them in January.

1. Can I buy a 6 ohm speaker for center channel (DALI is 6ohm). But my NHT is 8. My receiver manual reads "This unit supports speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 to 16 ohms"
2. What should I check when buying the speakers? Voltage and Hz? Is there any other thing I should watch out for?

This is something I will have to do without any auditioning. I will prefer a 10". Budget < $300. So your recommendations and suggestions will be really helpful. My shortlists:
Wharfedale Diamond
NHT (strong option as lot of information about going with same manufacturer)
Klipsch RC 52
ELAC C5

SVS seems slightly out of my budget. Any other recommendations would be very helpful :)

NHT super center would suit well. Seamless tonal balance is the key for the front speakers at the least.

Thanks but 7-8 months down line, I may go for a better front speakers and move the Superzeroes to rear. So considering that is NHT a mid range center speaker? That's the only question I need to see before I decide on one

If you are going to switch things in 6-7 months, then hold off on your center speaker purchase. Let the front handle the center channel. You can pick a matching center when you are looking to upgrade your fronts few months down the line.

Then an audition is a must. Else you might end up going round and round changing the center and front speakers. The L/R speakers will pretty much decide the tonal qualities of your system and throwing in a center with a different sound signature,(regardless of price)
will keep you second guessing whether the fronts are good enough. do not hurry when it comes to getting the front three speakers right.

Thanks guys.. so I guess center is on hold now. I will revive this topic in my next upgrade.

Can anyone tell me this generally related to speaker setup:
1. Can I buy a 6 ohm speaker for center/front channel (DALI is 6ohm). But my NHT(moving rear if I buy new fronts) is 8. My receiver manual reads "This unit supports speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 to 16 ohms"
2. What should I check when buying the speakers from US? Voltage and Hz? Is there any other thing I should watch out for?

1. No issues
2. Nothing to check if they passive speakers. Just the costs to get them here.

you just need to check the output wattage that you require. Impedance of 6 ohms and above should be Ok
