Chromecast - Streaming vedio from PC

Recently purchased Chromecast from Google by COD.

I connected it to my Marantz AVR HDMI input.
I have set it and I could see & hear Youtube very well.

Now I am trying to stream vedio on the screen from my PC. I tried various ways to do it.

I chose "cast entire screen" option. I can see the desk top in TV. But when I play vedio from any of the players like VLC etc., I can see the player only on the screen but not the vedio in side its own window, which is played on the desk top. On desktop it shows vedio properly but on tv screen vedio window is black. No vedio - no sound.

When the vedio is played through XBMC player it shows vedio but no audio.

How do I stream it correctly?
Is there any other player compatible with Chromecast?

You can't stream movie from any player..It can stream movie from Chrome browser only OR you tube application from your Iphone or android phone..

XMBC can stream vedio properly but there is no audio.
What can be done to stream audio also from this player? I could not find or locate any such setting in the player

Or is there any other version of XMBC player suitable for Chromecast?

I was thinking of buying this product but for same reason I dropped my idea.

I was reading on various forums regarding this. One of forum ppl were saying that though some developer creates app for streaming local videos from mobile Google blocks it.

I think Google is selling this product in less price only to promote their own sites like youtube.

Hopefully they will provide this feature in future.

I found out a way today!

I dragged and dropped the local vedio file in the crome browser's address bar and then you can play the vedio along with audio.

Only that you can not que the files to run one after the other. Each time you need to drag and drop.

I think let us try and overcome this also!

That's gr8.. but have you tried streaming from your Mobile or Tablet.

If not then can you please try this also. I am planning to buy this if it can stream local videos from android Mobile phone.

I have not yet tried but I will try it out. I dont know how to drag and drop in Android set, as I am new to this OS as well as envoironment. I have my Samsung Tab with touch screen.

Recently I came across an app.on google play called Avia Player which can be used on android tabs to cast vedio on Chromecast. The app. is free but I think requires add-ons for casting to chromecast, which are not free.

Has anyone tried it?
