Guys, I need to make a decision, have got three receivers and i need to choose the best of out of it, the Denon 1612 or the Yamaha RX V 467 or the Onkyo SR 308??

Help would be really appreciated, I would be adding a pair of Wharfedale 8.1 fronts, a pair of my old Philips tower speakers as rears and a new Wharfedale center speaker which I plan to get from the groupbuy here. A subwoofer to be added later on.. So which one do I go for??

Oh forgot to mention, i plan to use it only for movies

My suggestion Denon 1612 (28K) - It has a GUI, USB playback, discrete identically powered amps and is a 2012 model
Yamaha 467 and 308 are last year models. Other models you can consider are Denon 1312, Yamaha 371 (20K), 471 (26K)

What is your budget?

That Onkyo 508 pointed out buy kittu is a good one. It is 7.1.

For 28K, the newer models are denon 1612 and yamaha 471. Both have GUI and USB support. Denon has only one optical and one coaxial inputs where as yamaha has two of them. This won't be a problem as HDMI can carry both sound and video. Also, the yamaha manual says that it will use only the DTS core of DTS HD MA. In other words it won't decode full DTS HD where as the denon can.

New Onkyo 508 should be priced around 22K. But its last year model.

If you can spend 28K, the one feature I would look for is HDMI upscaling - just makes life easier.

Thanks for all your help, but finally ended up buying the ONKYO HTS 3400. A decent HT system and it does impress.. Next stop DACMAGIC :D

I like your speaker selection. I would go with Denon anyday............yamaha and pioneer are very good in hi end receivers. For entry level AVR's you cant beat denon. why dont you demo the system and let your ears decide.

Hey, do you know how to disable the irritating GUI option? Sometimes when i have to do settings while watching movie, the GUI comes all over the screen.
