Hi..
I want to start by complimenting and thanking all the members for their helpful insight in not only choosing the right av eqpt but also in understanding the concepts in the most friendly way.:clapping:

I am in the process of deciding about upgrading my setup by adding ? Denon x2300....two floorstanders...choice between dali zensor7.. Polk rTi 5 or 7...mezzo 6..MA bx 5..KEF q 500 or 700.

In the process I met the ProFx dealer here in Ahmedabad and had a chat with a subsequent appointment for audition today for Polk, KEF and Focal. During our chat he strongly mentioned a few things about Dali which I wanted to clarify with the seasoned members here. He pointed out a huge after sale service issue with Dali and said they are only interested in pushing their products rather than providing good services...and made me go through a long mail trail with the Dali as a dealer, trying to protect the service provision for his customer. Primary reason he says is change of at least 3 to 4 Indian distributors in past 2 to 3 years, and the customer is referred to the previous one on the issue of the service.

Second issue he says is about the SQ as the speakers coming this side of the world are being made/ assembled in China. I require to hear from seasoned audiophiles and Dali owners to shed light on this dilemma as after sales service remains an important issue after a hefty investment.

Am looking to upgrade for a L shaped Dinning drawing ad measuring about 300- 350 sq feet..with a viewing/ listening distance of about 15 feet..fraction preference for movie 60% and music 40%....speaker preference would be towards sweet warm soothing side...would highly appreciate if remarks could be made helping me choose the right speakers.

Thanks in advance...

Being a Dali user, I can say that its worth every penny and are not sensitive to placement as per their website. However, general rules/guidelines are common for any speaker.
Regarding service, you hardly get any issue with speakers within 1-2 years, but still service is important.

While selecting speakers for self, I also came across same thing about Dali Distributionship and service issue. Even dealer say I can't commit you date of delivery ,so we have stopped working with Dali.
Product quality and sound quality
Dali products are manufactured with top most quality control and are at par with similar international brand. No issue about sound quality and perform as per Dali's sound signature. Dali is one of the favorite speaker brand among forum members. You can safely play on Dali for performance rest of things are just luck.

Such a big commercial audiophile brand....all rubbish sales talk....if you like the sound signature go ahead..

Yeah precisely, the dealer is using an isolated event against a competitor brand to his advantage, ignore this and buy if you like the sound.

Even the brands which are highly rated in customer service will have one or two such horrendous stories to share, including profx for that matter ; there are lots of Happy Dali owners on the forum so don't worry about what dealer says.

Hi

Trust your ears and go with your instincts......see which brand suits your budget, expectations, appearance etc....use the same music / video clip as reference when making the choice....

Electronics if used in the recommended manner will last as long as required.....

Thanks all for your inputs..I agree that Dali is a brand to recon with...and the sound signature is pretty close to my liking...your comments have really lessened my anxiety...will definitely incl zesor 7 in my audition list...kindly also advise and comment upon the choice of avr and speakers shortlisted by me...it will help immensly...will be auditioning a few speakers today...will update accordingly...

+1 for Dali.
I cannot really comment on the Service part, but speakers are least expected to give you any issue until unless you treat them real bad.
Coming to the point of SQ, they're not upto the mark due to the reason that they are Made/Assembled in China - I do not buy this statement at all. Trust the brand, not the geography where its made. That's simply an Myth. Most of them knew this is coming 'iPhone is made/assembled in china' can you really speak a word on quality, that's the answer.
Simply trust your ears, see what pleases you. With movies has a preference, go ahead with Polk as they're proven speakers for genuine movie experience. Also you can't go wrong with Dalis. Again Trust your ears.

I would trust Dali users opinions more than dealers comments. There are many happy owners. Many dealers put down other brands to sell their stock.

If you can get Dalis manufactured in Denmark, even better. When i auditioned them 2 yrs back, they were pretty good. Zensor 7, that is. They were cheap then at 55k/pair but now you will not get them at that price i think. I am an owner of PSB X2T, tad superior to Dali Zensor 7 from my opinion but then just go by your ears only. Please take a variety of music CD's (no to phone music or USB music) to assess how the speaker set can handle, also note the volume levels, check at loud volumes whether there would be distortion, also check whether you would get ear fatigue (minimum of 30 mins is required to assess this criteria) to get the best experience to decide. I received 5 yrs warranty but not sure about Dalis though.

Polk RtiA5/A7 are not that appealing from music perspective. Denon x 2300 is under-powered i think. Go for x3200/x3300 if i am not mistaken.

All user opinions are subjective but you will notice a pattern to every speaker set that you can obtain from prior owner experiences using which you can screen out offerings that may not appeal to your listening preferences.
Spending months to audition is a waste of time as it will only cloud your judgement. Pre-Select the Top 5 and decide.

Appreciate your inputs...Dali from Denmark would anyday be better...but not available with dealers...give them an audition soon.
What should be the criteria to decide the avr vis a vis speaker...should be impedence rating/ wattage i guess...but then which one should be higher...it will become worthless if the avr fails to extract all the juice of the speakers and suffers a burnout...

Request experts to guide me on this.

Have a budget of 150k...strechable to 200k max...and am looking to add two towers..a centre channel and a decent avr...and thinking to dedicate half of it to avr and other half to the speakers...

I think Profx guy has tried to twist you, if u really like Dali, go and purchase blindly. I have been using Dali for past 2.5 years (both Denmark and China make). No quality issues found. Please note that speaker will not have frequent or major problems like AVR unless you smoke up or blowing it up.
The other speakers mentioned by you, is also good one. Its important here that which one you like the most.

Select the speaker set first and then decide what AVR you need to power the speakers on a per channel based on the speaker wattage rating. Ideally you do not wish to use speakers beyond 2/3rds of the max power consumption rating as it would be unkind to the ears. I am assuming you have the viewing on a television.
