Hi friends,
I am starting this thread as a biased fanboy of Dali speakers.. i had forgotten that any electronic equipment could provide such a sense of childlike wonder since Steve's launch of the iPhone.. Mods while we strive to be politically correct in this forum and be helpful, i hope you wouldnt mind some friendly rants of someone who discovered much joy from a pair of boxed electronics.. here i will post about different Dali speakers .. my thoughts on them.. my expereinces with them playing my favourite songs... join in, shout out, approve, disagree .. be inspired, In admiration of Music.. Much love and many thanks ..

So my friends..
Most of you who have left the great Indian shores, know that coke cadbury and pepsi taste better in the us than back home.. ofcourse we have the best biriyani in the world .. but coke pepsi and chocolates.. somehow they taste here the way they were probably meant to..
Is it because of the water they use? I cant say.. but tbere is definitely a delta.. a subtle but overpowering delta.. once you have a coke and a burger in a diner.. and you know forever how different it is back home ..when you get back .. you probably switch to thums up..
The word to describe that delta, for the lack of better diction, is refinement..
It is that same refinement i experienced the other night wirh a pair of Dali Zensor 1s
so i am your average joe with a regular job..ipod touch with white earbuds kinda guy. Aspired to a bose someday.. and then i met the Dalis.. i hooked them up with a pair of silver cables..
Connected my ipod to the denon and just as i thought bose was beat.. it started playing .. and i got dissapointed.. what the ... i didnt just spend 450 quid for this .. i can get same sound frim the crap ipod dock i got from chandni chowk.. (for the uninitiated its the electronics bazaar in kol .. not the
purani dilli one.. now both these places are very close to my heart as i am both a gadget and a kebab
freak..)
Well then i sppose we need to audessey and burn in :) these terms were like voodoo to me .. much in the lines of abracadabra.. :) but neway ran the audessey .. played the speakers all day while at office for a week ..and finally friday came..
It was -2 .outside . got back from office.. went to the local curry shop.. its pakistani btw.. the bangladeshi ones in my area are not that great.. so every friday evening i go to this curry shop with a bottle of whiskey .. jw black or glenfiddich depending on my mood, served with grilled lamb chops .. followed by bhuna ghost with garlic naan .. thank God they let me take my own bottle of whiskey
On the way back a pair of Dunhills smoked ..was feeling good in general .. 3/4 of the glen intact .. dont do more than a quarter in one sitting ..
You do realize i was already kind of satisfied that evening..then the time came
I connected the ipod .. hit play when i reached hurt ... by Jhonny Cash from The Man comes around..
Its a remake of a song by Nine inch Nails .. Redemption at last... the release a junkie feels when he gets his fix.. He sang "I hurt myself today" ... and i knew its Dali forever .. it felt like the old tape.deck days ..staying up at night rewinding tapes and worshipping heroes.. the day of 17 and rebellion.. of recklessness .. of magic.. and finally it dawned on me.. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"
Much love until next weekend

Its good to see some appreciation about Dali Zensor 1. I am planning to get some speakers and confused between Wharfedale 10.1 and Dali Zensor 1. Both are almost in same price bracket (Dalis (pair) are 30 dearer).
If possible can you shed some light on it?

Its really great to have different Glens out here in UK. I loved them all. But I still miss the punch of Thums Up.... couldn't find any replacement..... so far... :)

-Cheers,
Saikat

Glenfiddich, Balti Chicken, Raan, Naan and Curry in a foreign land with some good music, great buddies over a quality Hi Fi system ... hmmmm You have touched a raw nerve buddy...

We have become too material, driven, attention deficient .. we are forgetting the joys of enjoying the weekend at home with close friends, good food, single malt, good laughs and of course good music.

I spend 11 years in the US before moving back to Mumbai.

Enjoy life and live it king size ..
