My AVR recently developed this problem..
Firstly there is no output from HDMI out.. To diagnose and isolate I removed all the connections and started with plugging in the from simplest to the more complex (hdmi) ones...

1. First, I removed all the connections and tried a microprocessor reset.
2. Plugged in the optical cable from CD Player and it worked...:clapping::clapping:
3. Then I plugged in the HDMI cable from WD HD media player.. No output on TV and no sound from speakers..
4. Tried playing a CD and still no output. Tried the test tone and only Front right speaker would yield any output..changing to other speakers didn't make any difference..no matter what speaker I select to test the tone, I have output only from Front right speaker.
5. So I thought may be speaker wiring has gone wrong or loosened up..Check each and every speaker wiring and found it to be perfect.
6. This time I disconnected the WD HD Media Player and connected my PS3 using HDMI..again no av output whatsoever..
7. Went back and pulled out all the cables.. Checked TV for Anynet+ setting.. Anynet+ is enabled.. Thats how it should be right.. ???
8. Plugged in Optical cable and reset the microprossesor worked again..
9. Again I plugged in HDMI cable to test for Video output.. Nothing works.. Switching to CD mode won't work.. so in Complete fury and I remove both the HDMI cables and VOILA..IT IS ALIVE AGAIN.. I have output from CD Player..

Can anyone help as to what could be wrong..
Any help would be much appreciated..

BTW My DENON AVR was from Ebay GEB.. and is connected using step down transformer..

May be the HDMI cable was damaged. I mean, imagine two or three threads within the cable is short circuited, wouldn't that cause some major trouble? Did you change the HDMi cable and check?

TRY Connecting your HDMI from WD TV or PS3 DIRECTLY to TV.... Just to check whether the HDMI cable is working or NOT... The cable might be at fault... In fact both the cables.... If u get audio/video on tv by directly connecting WD or PS3 to the TV... then there might be some problem at Denon 's HDMI Output end....

Not sure but yr TV s HDMI input may also be at fault..
I hav just listed d possibilities ... jus cross check and eliminate the wrong ones...

Hope yr HDMI cable is at fault.. not the TV or Denon... Will save u few bucks and tension of repair etc...

I have checked what you guys suggested, and now it is confirmed that Denon HDMI board is at fault. Thanks for help guys..

Since the receiver was bought in US, I am in for a soup..

Hi,

I am sure you would have checked this very simple stuff...

There is a switching sequence for Denon 1911..

Its TV > BD Player > Denon 1911.. I have observed that if you do not switch in this sequence, my TV fails to recognise the BD player signals..

BTW I have Panasonic TV, Panasonic BD player and Denon 1911 (all connected through HDMI cables)

Cheers..
