Does this bring back memories...

It is (was) a great idea... it's been a long time (20 years ago) I have heard the sound (used) this. The bass coming from this pot was kind of Dholak (not suitable for all kind of music though but for some... it was awesome).

I am not sure how this new manufacturing will sound as this is made of clay(?). In one of image.... there is ported design, that is different what I have used in past (sealed pot). But I remember I have tried to make some room for air by slightly lifting the driver. :D (Those were the days)

May be most of our guys could have tried this while as kid.. I have personally tried those 25 years back. Those days pot were used for making cold water...

When in college and for lack of funds, we'd buy car speakers and car tape player (cost all of Rs. 3000 and some change) and then we bought a couple of these clay pots and put the speakers in them.

Best sound we had during those college years.

Yeah, brings back lots of memories.

Ofcourse, my first experiment with music system was a low end 2 channel amplifier + sony walkman + two locally made speakers with a clay pot enclosure. That was almost 25 years back, and still I remember the 'tinny bass' it produced. Enjoyed hours and hours of music, and I think I enjoyed AR Rahman's first few albums in that old , but lovable music setup. :) I will say, it was more perfect for Kumar Sanu's releases with famous "jhankaar beats" :)
