Hi everyone,
It's good to be here.
Here is something for those who are in to their forties and beyond.
Do you ever find your tweeters are not up to it as it used to be?
Well, here is the strange reason.
It could be your ears!
Just pop your ears and hear the tweeters coming live!
Try it.

You mean pop as in using pin to prick and pop the balloon?
But yes, I have observed that during flights (transition from high to low altitude) if everything starts sounding as if coming from under the earth (basically you hear only low frequencies) then yawning / other means of freeing the congestion in eustachian tubes help in restoring the sound to higher fidelity :).

I will not talk about tweeters as I do not feel any damage in my hearing capability. I am 53+ and last year I did my audiometry test. The result was fine. I am listening to music from my childhood on a Hi-fi system and on very moderate vol level and sometimes on high vol but that frequency of hi vol listening is rare. I feel that as I was listening on moderate vol the ears are still intact in their hearing capabilities. However everyone is different and with age chances are some parts of body become weak.

Coincidence, maybe, but last night, I did just that after getting off a flight and upon listening to my system and thinking i had a hallelujah moment. And the first post I come across in the morning (no kidding) 🤦‍♂️ :D

This is how one pops their ears.
Hmm, I didn’t know the technique that works for me has a name - Valsalva manoeuver! It’s usually early in the morning that I feel the need for it.

By the way, if only one of the ears need popping, it’s easy to know as the sound image will shift to the other side.

If you need regularly it but you haven't faced any air pressure changes, then your ENT passages are getting clogged. Infection perhaps?
