features in an av receiver

what features or technologies do you look for the most in an av receiver or a av processor apart from power rating (in av receivers) ?

Actually I was kind of hoping he would be listing all features inside this thread for noobs like me ... I remembered his setup before responding to this one...

Let the experts chip-in here ....

HDMI audio decoding with atleast 4 inputs.
Not interested in HDMI 1.4 a bit, 1.3 gets the job done for me.
DTS True HD and MA support.
5.1 is enough,but think one with the above spec would normally include 7.1+ support.
Pre Out for atleast the fronts as i might be getting a huge FS pair for front.

I will be shortlisting my next AVR hunt(hopefully very soon ) based on the above criteria.

actually i started this thread for all of those who are looking forward to set up a new home theater. As we all know a good av receiver is an important part of a ht and all of us who own an av receiver know what best n necessary feature should be there . Sometimes after investing money in an av pro some of the people regret buying because after using it we find that it is missing some crucial features , so lets help ppl by telling them what feature is necessary n whats not
