I just came to know they are developing 100K resolution and microscopic/telescopic goggles so they could make you appreciate those tiny extra pixels they have added after spending millions on that technology.

Its a mess right now, people haven't adapted 4K(not much content) and they are working on 8K which i guess wont make much difference to human eye. Technology is getting outdated so fast that you can chase it, that's the think i don't like about this greedy industry :P

You can find early adopters in every field and industry. Most of the initial money is made from them. Early adoption also has its own advantages and obvious disadvantages.

I wouldn't categorise myself as an early adopter of 4K, but I do have both a 4K TV and a 4K monitor. Right now if anybody is buying a new TV, I would highly recommend going for a 4K TV instead of a 1080p TV. The prices are roughly the same, but the 4K TV offers more advantages and better PQ. It's not so much true for a 4K monitor, they are still exorbitantly priced in comparison to a 1080p monitor, but the holy grail of all gamers.

Both 4K TVs and 4K monitors have internal upscaling technology that takes 720p or 1080p content and upscales it to 4K/2160p. In addition software like madVR and Nvidia DSR also help achieve the same results. While it is not true 4K content, it still makes for much better PQ than regular 720p and 1080p content.

A 1080p Blu-ray movie looks much better on a 4K TV than on a 1080P TV. Considering the prices are nearly the same, it makes more sense to go for a 4K TV than a 1080p TV today.
