Hi,
I recently picked up a pair of Gaumont Kalee GK379 HF drivers.
These drivers are similar to the ALtec 288 but built using a copper top plate and a 20 slit radial phase plug, which seems to have been inspired by the Lansing 285 driver. The radial slit phasing plug is a close copy of the Lansing 285 of 1937/38.
The Gaumont 379 uses the half roll surround type diaphragm of all Lansing compression drivers preceding the Altec 288, which used a tangential surround.
I tested them out yesterday using them as HF drivers with my Altec 605. They sound very good. I will now have to get an adapter made to fit them on to my 400 Hz Le Cleach horns.
