In recent times there's been an pleasing uprise in vinyl lovers. But since there's been a gap of decades since vinyls have been able to make a comeback, there are a lot of questions in a Vinyl head's mind which go unanswered.

Calling out to all vinyl veteran to help create a glossary for those who's just joined the spectacular voyage of vinyl.

In the thread I'll try to edit this post to accommodate keywords related to the world of Vinyls, a sort of FAQ.

Please take a few minutes and post about any thing related to vinyls, so that new entrants will not have a ask same questions over and over.

Cartridge

- It is a device that is attached to the end part of tonearm, which overhangs over record. A cartridge is a transducer used for the playback of gramophone records on a turntable or phonograph. It is a mechanical device that converts vibrational energy from a stylus riding in a record groove into an electrical signal that is subsequently passed through amplification and then converted into sound energy by a loudspeaker system.

Phono Input

- A socket on an amplifier or receiver that accepts signals from an analog turntable. The phono input circuit boosts the signal and provides the RIAA equalization necessary to restore the original sound.

RIAA equalization

-RIAA equalization is a specification for the recording and playback of phonograph records, established by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It is encorporated into pre-amp stage of amplification.
