Hello Memebers,

Am getting honda brio, base version without audio, this month end. I need good audio system ( no amplifiers, but should be capable to provide good bass, surround). I listen mostly to the Rahman's song and western. NowI have two option, either to go with Honda company provided audio system [ they quoted 20k and its 2 DIN with 200w ] or should I buy audio system from Bangalore Audio outlets.

Any pointers will be of great help..

Thanks,
SA

I have a honda brio V-MT as my city runabout and the stock audio system is completely satisfactory for the audiophile in me. I was expecting the worst for a car this cheap but realized after getting the car that the stock audio is bloody fantastic.

Great. So i will go with the company fitted audio.. :-)

If your car version/variant comes with stock audio unit stay with it, other wise you can go for after market products outside. Do not let Honda rob you for the pio and jbls they recommend. :)

^^The Honda head unit is OEM from alpine. The speakers that they give sound far better than any 5-6k JBL that I've heard.

Valuable points.. thanks.
The main concern here is , I have a spare Alphine CDA-9886 model, which says 50w X4 . Now which is better, going with honda audio or Alphine.

It appears going with Alphine is a better one, as said why allow Honda to rob :-) [ no offense ], but at same time i wanted to know which sounds the best. If its Honda provided audio, then i will prefer to go with that.... Or any suggestions plz.

Depends on your personal choice of music and how you want your sound stage set pal. Normally OEM ICE cant never match the sound quality of aftermarket installs. I would say go for an aftermarket install if you are keen on the type of music you listen to and if you prefer SQ.

Alphine CDA-9886 is a good model. You can pair it with PXA-H100 to get MultiEQ calibration. You can even go active if you want.

So I'm getting the Honda brio SMT next month, the comes with the stock HU which I do not like for it's single line text dsplay and no Bluetooth hands free capability. I was thinking of getting the pioneer 2490BT, any ne has installed an aftermarket HU and can guide me with sizing requirements and hw to retain the steering whel controls.

Thanks.

I was in a similar situation with my swift. I however decided to go with the stock unit for the following reasons:

1. Double din, so it fits snugly
2. Built in bluetooth. I dont take calls on the road for more than few seconds. This helps in hands free driving
3. Despite the desire for "audiophile" quality music while driving, you will be hard pressed to push the volume up and drive in bangalore traffic without risk of accidents. Or be able to appreciate the music quality that much when focusing on driving. So mine sounded decent and that was all I cared for.

I would suggest to go with stock unit with decent speakers and make sure you have aux or USB connection to run your media player. CDs are prone to scratches and management is a nightmare.

On the contrary, you will become quite alert to sorroundings with your vision. With damping, the horn noise is greatly reduced without even playing the music. In bumper to bumper traffic, i just put the volume high and keep moving along with the traffic. You need to be alert when changing lanes. If you stick to one lane, then no issues.
