try to add pics of the same in action.. can be helpful..

congrats again.

Thanks guys. And cummon, I haven't spent more than two days with the device and you guys want me to sell it :D

BTW noticed that there is tremendous difference in sound quality when you directly play from the USB. This essentially defeats the purpose of playing FLACs over wifi.

Overall the device is pretty impressive. Packs in a lot of magic.

Which, in turn, defeats the object of the device as a networked player!

Few questions:

1. What is the USB size and make that you are using?
2. Have you compared the sound quality with other sources? If yes, then how is the difference?
3. Did you try the micro SD card?

When you stream music from a computer, the SB Touch is connected to the Squeezebox server downloaded on a computer from the Logitech website. Both the computer and the wireless router have to be powered on to play music.

When you stream music through an external HDD connected directly to the SB Touch through the USB port, the SB Touch connects to the Squeezebox server built inside the Touch. The computer is entirely removed from the chain. The router still needs to be powered on. The SQ is better with this option.

Frankly the second option is so simple and works so beautifully, that it renders other complex computer audio solutions obsolete. At least for a non techie like me :)

I'd give it a week or two max. (Just for giggs) ;):)
For ??????

1. 4GB Transcend.
2. Yes I can tell that a DAC (arcam rdac) connected to a laptop would sound better. But this player is not only about the music quality, its more about the comfort which I don't think any other device can match.
3. Not yet.

Yeah thats what I meant.

Oh yeah.. I din't realize..
Will check after 2 days.. :D :D
two weeks at least

I don't see any technical reason why this should be so, unless certain formats are being transcoded for wifi transmission. That might make a difference.

Right. They are versatile boxes, and not everyone will buy for the same reasons. The purpose of my Duet was to specifically connect PC to Hifi. Even if it had the USB option, I wouldn't be particularly interested in using it. If the purpose of your Touch is to be a standalone media server then that's good too. Better, even, according to your experience :)

The Touch, with its built-in server, has the advantage of being able to act as a server for other squeezeboxes around the house too, for a PC-less media serving experience.
